9 Feb 1904 The Russian-Japanese war began. Thousands of recruits from all over the Belarus were sent to the front. Russia was defeated in this war and signed the Portsmouth Treaty in Sep 5, 1905.
21-29 Dec 1905 Revolutionary meeting in Baranovichi, Dec 1905Revolutionary meetings of workers and soldiers took place on the railway station of Baranovichi.

30 Dec 1905 Tsar troops shoot down a peasant meeting in the villages of Opol and Lyadovichi (Ivanovo district). 5 people were killed, 6 people were severely wounded.
1905 A free people library was opened in the village of Ostromechevo (Brest district).
1 Aug 1914 The beginning of the 1st World War.
October 1915 A belorussian village is burning, 1915The west part of Belarus (to the line of Dvinsk-Postavy-Baranovichi-Pinsk) was annexed by German troops. Some of the villages in the region were burned down.

May 1916 An ethnographic exposition was organized in Baranovichi.
15 Dec 1917 Fraternization of Russian and German soldiersThe agreement about provisional cessation of hostilities between Soviet Russia and Germany was signed in Brest-Litovsk (Brest).

February 1918 German troops attacked Russia and annexed Central and Eastern parts of Belarus.
3 Mar 1918 The Brest Treaty was signed in Brest-Litovsk. Russia withdrew from the 1st World War.
January 1919 Russian-German front in 1917-1919German troops leaved the territory of Belarus.

February-March 1919 The territory of Western Belarus (including Brest region) was annexed by Polish troops.
July 1919 The Pripyat Fleet was created in Polessie (on the river of Pripyat). It existed up to Sep 1919.
July-August 1920 Brest region was annexed by Soviet troops.
August-October 1920 Brest region was annexed by Polish troops and it became a part of Poland.
1924 The museum of regional studies of Polessie was founded in Pinsk.
1925 Agrarian reform began in the Western Belarus.
1929 The museum of regional studies was founded in Baranovichi.
September 1939 The territory of the Brest region was annexed by Soviet troops. Western Belarus became a part of the BSSR (Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic).
4 Dec 1939 Territory of the Western Belarus was divided to Baranovichi, Belostok, Brest, Vileyka, and Pinsk regions. The territory of modern Brest region included Baranovichi, Brest, and Pinsk regions at that time.

January 1940 All the factories and trading enterprises were nationalized by state.
1941-1945 The Great Patriotic War.
June-August 1941 German troops in Belorussian villageAll the territory of Belarus was occupied by German troops.

June-July 1944 Red Army cleared all the territory of Belarus.
During the war there were killed in Belarus about 2.230.000 people (every fourth resident of Belarus). It was ruined and burned down 209 towns, burned down 9.200 villages. It was destroyed more than 10.000 of factories, 2.000 hospitals, 219 libraries. More than 380.000 people were taken away to Germany.
January 1954 Baranovichi region and 4 districts of Pinsk region were merged to the Brest region.
