Hello! I am looking for information pertaining to a village or farmstead named FAUSTINOVO (or FAUSTINOWO, FAUSTINOW, FAUSTIGNOW, ...) which according to mapquest.com, calle.com, and other map sites is located at a latitude of 51° 55' 60N (51.9333) and a longitude of 23° 48' 0E (23.8000) in Belorus near BREST:

http://www.calle.com/info.cgi?lat=51.93 ... us&alt=564
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?co ... faustinovo

Judging by the depiction of the maps, FAUSTINOVO should be located half way between the communities of Stradzecy (Stradech) and Masevicy (Masevichi), but there is nothing but forest?

My great great grandfather Gottlieb KIRSCHBAUM (a jeweller) and his wife Wilhelmina SCHENDEL (b. 1859, d. 1925) used to live there until around 1910-1915 when they emigrated to ROSENORT and AUHOF farmsteads in the BRAUNSBERG district of East Prussia, Germany. Their son, my great grandfather Wilhelm KIRSCHBAUM (b. 1891, d. 1979) was born in FAUSTINOVO along with his brothers Edward KIRSCHBAUM (b. 1893, d. 1930) and Emil KIRSCHBAUM (a minister) and his sisters Olga KIRSCHBAUM (b. 1897, d. 1968) and Auguste KIRSCHBAUM.

ANY information about the fate of FAUSTINOVO and/or my great great grandparents and family will be most welcomed by the branches of the KIRSCHBAUM descendents on both sides of the Atlantic!

Hi Christian,

I am the daughter of Dorothea Schrader, whose maiden name was Dorothea Kirschbaum. My dad is Eldon Schrader. I live in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. I am married to David Gerwing, and we have two children Joshua (7) and Jessica (5). Dave and I met you at the marriage of Chris Kirk in Ontario about 4 years ago or so. Chris is the son of Gerald and Marilyn Kirk.
I am interested in finding out more on the Kirschbaum family, as I would like to put something together for our family to have and pass on to our children and grandchildren. I would like to come to Germany too some day to meet relatives that we have there.

A very strange thing happened recently. My grandmother (Helene Neuman, originally married to Edward Kirschbaum) had a brother named Julius Kruger. Well, it turns out that one of my good friends here in Ottawa is the granddaughter of Julius. So her grandfather and my grandmother were brother and sister...that makes us 2nd or 3rd cousins !! I knew Julius well as he lived with my grandmother Helene for many years. My friend's maiden name is Sharon Schendel (her father is Barry Schendel). What a small world, especially in Canada where everyone is so spread out.

Please e-mail me so that we can reconnect...I don't even know is this e-mail still works for you as this web page looks like it is from 2002.

By for now,
