i am looking for information and possible relatives originating from the pruzhana/prushany region (and then going all over the world--USA and South America especially). The family name is/was KRONSTADT, KRONSHTAT, KRONSHTADT, KRONSHTODT.

Bare in mind that immigrants frequently referred to their regional or district center as place of origin for geographical reference, because their own villages were small.

There are a handful of Kronstadt listed on Ellis Island Records, showing them coming from Pruzhany, but after closer examnation, notice village names.

thank you, have checked out these so far and will continue to look for more information. Is there a separate information location for Shereshevo (near Prushany)? do you know?

Please communicate via the email that I've sent to you. I didn't even know we had family in Israel--though I shouldn't be surprised. My daughter was just there this past summer and if we'd known, we might have connected the two of you. Better yet, my husband has been trying to get me to agree to travel to Israel and this might just be the incentive I need. Please let me know more!

My father, Boris Ozarow, was married to a Helen Kronstadt from Pruzana, Belarus. They were deported from Pruzana to Auchwitz (along with a child(ren) on or about February 2, 1943), Only Boris Ozarow survived.
