Bernstein, Siegel ancestors

Post by Larry Ward » 16 Mar 2010, 03:22

I am seeking genealogical information on my wife's Jewish ancestors:
Morris Siegel, Kapulya, who emigrated to U.S. late 1800's
Jacob Bernstein, Brest-Litovsk, son of Morris and Esther, emigrated to U.S. early 1900's.

My great grandfather, Morris Siegel, who was married to Sadie, came from the Brest-Litovsk region. I have a copy of his WWI draft registration card dated June 1917 in NY. I wonder if his parents might be Morris and Esther. I am trying to find any info that leads to my great grandfather's parents. Please let me know if you think this info may overlap your own.
Many thanks, Lora

I don't think so. The Morris and Esther I referred to as parents of Jacob Bernstein are, of course, Morris and Esther Bernstein in the US. Since that posting, I have learned that their actual last names on entry forms were listed as Boreschic, Barasz, and Berejsza! I know from family lore that our Morries Giegel from Kapulya's father was Yehuda Nisan Siegel.
Happy hunting!
