Loking for information on family name and village

Post by Byron Heath » 10 Feb 2008, 06:24

My grandmother Vera Logvinoff was born in 1912 near Brest on a farm and had an older brother Ivan. She left in 1925 with the help of the Canadian Red Cross to Canada. She believes her village was Zabornya, however I cannot find this name anywhere and her last name was Logvinoff and I cannot find a references in Brest for this name. Any inforamtion on the village or family name would be appreciated.

Hi. I realize your message is from 2008 but I am helping my cousin research her father's side of the family tree. She has a Vera Lognitoff born in Latvia/Russia who came to Canada with her brother in May 1925. They arrived in port of Quebec, Canada then travelled by rail to Vancouver, BC to meet their father, Fred(canadianized) who lived in Bamfield, Victoria, British Columbia. Does this sound at all familiar to you? Have a little information and happy to share.
