Brest-Litovski

Post by Larry Schenker » 09 Oct 2003, 09:51

Between the years of 1905 and 1911 was Brest-Litovski ever consider a part of Poland. I know that the location is on the border.

I have just discovered the 1930 Federal Census for my uncle and on this document he indicated that he was born in Brest-Litovski, Poland.

He was in 1930 about 23 years old. Also a very educated man who had just graduated from Law School in the United States.

Yes, Brest-Litovsk was part of Poland until 1943. If you look on a map you'll see that Brest is situated right along the Bug River which, at times, was the border between Poland and Belarus.

In 1907 Brest-Litovst was still under Russia.
It didn't get it's independence and became Polish until 1920.
