My grandfather (Joseph) born in Kossow Poleski around the year 1900. He emigrated to Argentina around the year 1920 and that their parents were in Kossow Poleski and died in WWII. His father was called Aron and its mother Rifke Szer( Sher ?).
Me it would make very happy if somebody can contribute some additional data to me.
In addition, it wanted to know if Kossow Poleski now is called Kossovo or Kossovo Polesskoe.
Thanks.

That's right. Kossow Poleski is Kossovo.
Curious, the name of a small railway station in Nekhachevo is Kossovo Poleski too (or Kossovo-Polesskoe). Though this station is located in 13 km from Kossovo. It's the closest railway station to Kossovo.

Sergei, I thought that Kossow Poleski was a town near Slonim (to the south), that its station of train was Nekhachevo... that their coordinates were 52 45 25 09 and in the map that is in http://people.netscape.com/morse/barg/polish.gif he is very different ... Kossovo is very to the east of Slonim... In addition, it thought that Kossow Poleski was in Grodno province ... which is the error ???
I hope that you can help me in this puzzle !!!

Kossovo is located about 35 km to the South of Slonim. The station's name is Kossovo-Polesskoe, but it's located in the village of Nekhachevo. Your coordinates are exact. But on the map you've mentioned there is neither Slonim, nor Kossovo. At the top of the map you can see only Niechaczewo (Nekhachevo) and St.Kosow (station Kossovo) close to it. Station is "stancia" in Polish. The city of Kossovo is out of this map, it must be right over the top of it. And you are right, Kossovo was in Grodno gubernia (province) in Tsar Russia. At present time it's in Brest region (or province).

Hello Gabriel, I doubt that on the Web you'll find genealogically specific information about Kossovo. To obtain genealogy information you need to perform research. This is accomplished by, among other ways, contacting various archives and local registry offices in Belarus and archives in Russia
(e.g., for military records). Are your ancestors Poles, Belarusians, or Jews, or other? Have you checked the Mormon Family Histroy Library to determine if they have microfilmed any relevant records...they have some Roman Catholic parish records:

Hi,

My grandparents are from Kossov-Poleski too. They came to Israel during the 20s but most of their family was murdered during WW2. I know that there is a memorial booklet for that town but could not get it anywhere (published in the 50s in Israel by the people who came from Kossuv, both in Hebrew & Yidish).

It is very likely that someone poses a copy and can give you the information.

Good luck,
Ronit.
